About August 27, 2007

I reside in Durham, NC, where I was born and raised. I went to school just outside the Windy City, lost most of my southern accent, and returned afterward for a job in the Triangle. I’m a huge fan of anything local, good food, trying new restaurants (not chains!), literature and hospitality. In my free time I serve as a leader in my church: Emmaus Way and participate in fund-raising efforts for an organization in Kenya: Carolina HopeFest.

I was a Republican until I walked through the slums of Nairobi for the first time last year. Next thing I knew, I was co-hosting a fundraiser for Durham county commissioner Michael Page (D) and voting in the Democratic primary. Now I find myself yelling at the television when Sarah Palin speaks and my eyes mist over during Obama commercials. I’m still trying to figure out what happened to me.

My weaknesses are Kiehl’s, a good pedicure, Orla Kiely handbags and Citizens of Humanity denim. Weekly acupuncture appointments seem to assuage the stress of the corporate world. I love to garden. A rainy spring Saturday typically finds me covered in mud from dividing and transplanting. I know all of my neighbors. Lately I’ve been thinking about changing my name to Genevieve.

One day I’d like to own a Cockapoo, finally make it to Germany and live in Kenya for a year.

Wow, it’s not the Jenny I knew. Glad to hear it. I’ve been thinking about you as your emails come back to me. Send me a current address.

It was great to catch up on your life. And know that food is source of pleasure, adventure, and connection.

    Dina
